On Friday, we finally had a bout of good weather and wellness... We decided to take full advantage of the opportunity! We embarked on a scenic drive to Strassbourg, France. In the above photo, Ambrose encountered his first swan! He was a bit intimidated by this chance meeting as you can tell by his recoiled posture. :)Upon arrival in Strassbourg, we parked by the cathedral, then headed straight to lunch at a lovely little French bistro around the corner. We ate a gourmet lunch while listening to the bells of Notre Dame du Strassbourg chime enchantingly in the background. I elected to eat dangerously, and sampled fried duck 'fois gras' for my entree. Mark ate a lamb with vegetables. Ambrose behaved like an angel, munching on hard crusty bread and banana puffs. It was so nice to eat a relaxing lunch.
Once we finished lunch, we visited the inside of the cathedral. Inside we found a curious clock and signs advising us of pickpockets! We had never seen a giant clock in a traditional church before, so this was a rather interesting site. The cathedral is known for it's elaborate almost 'cuckoo' style clock. It was kind of dark, but here's a picture of it.We sp
ent the rest of the day wandering the banks of the Ill River. As you can tell from the background of this photo of Ambrose and his dad, the landscape is known for its resemblance of Amsterdam. We wanted to take a tour on the boat behind Mark, but the water was too high. We have had a lot of rain over here recently. You can see how the rain affected Strassbourg in the photos below...
